China Urges US, Iran to Honor Their Ceasefire, Avoid Renewed Fighting
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning told reporters in Beijing that “China is deeply concerned over the current situation,” expressing alarm over the escalation in regional tensions.
According to reports, the remarks followed US claims that it had carried out strikes on Qeshm Island in response to alleged Iranian attacks across the Middle East. The US also stated that its forces, along with allied militaries, intercepted multiple missiles and drones launched by Iran.
Kuwait separately reported that its air defense systems had engaged what it described as “hostile” missile and drone threats during the early hours of Wednesday.
Mao emphasized that “renewed warfare serves no one's interest,” reiterating Beijing’s call for restraint and diplomatic adherence to the ceasefire arrangement.
